Looking back.... Created

It was around August 2008 that I embarked on the Green Streets journey.... there have been highs and lows for us all but looking back there are some moments that i'm especially proud. In particular recruiting, in my opinion, a fantastic team!

Green Streets began in 2007, where we worked closely with 64 households to save energy and carbon emissions.  It was run by Chris Ronketti who is now working for the British Gas Community Energy team helping Local Authorities and Housing Associations to be more sustainable.

When I took up the Green Streets reigns in 2008 we were drawing the first Green Streets to a close and celebrating an average saving of 25% across all of the households taking part. Off the back of this success, we kicked off the bigger challenge that would be bigger, more ambitious and include more buildings, more people and more technology that was new to British Gas.  It was clear we were going to need more help and so I began to recruit a new team.  Stavros, Lee, Claire, Jack and Robin (and previously Craig who is now working in Australia) are our very knowledgeable project delivery team that have been working hard with the Green Streets communities and with other parts of British Gas to support the delivery of the community projects.  I think it's safe to say we have gained a huge amount from these projects and the people in the communities and we've still got work to do!

Green Streets is a great example of lots of parts of British Gas working together, which can be tricky in such a big organisation.  We don't always get it right, but this is all being recorded and we will continue to support other parts of the business to develop and improve these areas and build on the new things we've learnt and areas that have been successful in .  We've learnt a lot from Green Streets too!

What has stuck out for you throughout your community project, and Green Streets in particular?
