Our Story
This project focuses on community buildings in Horncastle, and particularly the families and childminders of children up to five years old who use the Early Years Settings (EYS) at the community buildings involved in Green Babies and Toddlers (GBT).
The households of these families will also benefit from energy efficiency and microgeneration measures to their homes through the project.
The project objectives are to:
Raise awareness of:
• Climate change
• How to use energy in the home/community buildings efficiently (i.e. changes in behaviour)
• Measures that can be installed to increase the home/community building’s energy efficiency
• Microgeneration technologies
• Grants and advice to help decrease greenhouse gas emissions
• Ways to decrease carbon footprint beyond the home, especially related to parenting.

25 Green Streets families, all users of the playgroups and nurseries, and other users of the four community buildings: total of up to 1000 people!
Buildings
The Methodist Church and Youth Hall (housing Tiny Tots), The Children's Centre, The Horncastle War Memorial Centre (housing Woodlands Nursery), the Community Centre (housing the community playgroup)
Energy Projects
Energy saving measure for the 25 residential properties and the 4 community buildings (loft insulation, new boilers etc.), solar PV panels for up to three of the community buildings
