Our Story
With an active project team of over 80 people, the Tackley Green Streets community project is designed so that the whole village will benefit by delivering overall energy savings of at least 25%.
There will be a heat pump and solar panels on the village hall, and energy savings will be shared between the village hall, St Nicholas’s church and the Methodist Hall.
The Green Streets project has also completed energy audits on 78 homes and businesses in the village. With the installation of Smart meters, villagers will have all the information they need to help choose the best way of saving energy.
The 78 households involved have also participated in a prize draw and over £31,000 of energy saving items and projects have been awarded.
The village is holding an Energy Day in September to celebrate the project and its successes and provide “energy learning” in a fun way. The project also actively involves the primary school and the community-owned village shop in its actions and progress.
