Should PTAs invest in solar panels on school roofs? Created

Now that the country has so much debt is it realistic for parents to expect the government or grants to put green technology onto school roofs? PTAs do a fantastic job of raising money for their children at the school. Parents clearly care so much about their children's futures and have payed for pools, buildings and much more. Could a deal be done with the councils ( who ever pays for the electricity when it comes from the grid) to ensure that the school still gets the money ( maybe they could pay back the PTA) . The feed back tariff makes it an investment as well.

Hi Emma,

This is a really interesting subject. In another post I mention that we recently ran a "Pay As You Save" pilot (where people pay back a loan whilst they earn money from Clean Energy Cashback/the Feed In Tariff) for the Energy Saving Trust and I know we're continuing to look at these type of schemes. Let's hope they become the norm - because, as you say, how long can we expect other people and bodies to pay for the technology?
