Household Energy Management Strategy

Household Energy Management Strategy Created

The Government has today published its Household Energy Management Strategy [PDF 739kb], setting out its plans for meeting its target for a reduction of 29% in carbon emissions from the household sector.

The strategy responds to the consultation conducted on Heat and Energy Saving last year, and sets out plans to meet both the overall 2020 goal, and interim commitments to ensure that, by 2015, every household will have installed loft and cavity wall insulation where it is practical to do so, and by 2020 up to 7 million homes will have received more substantial eco-upgrades, including improvements such as solid wall insulation or renewable energy generating technologies.

Loft and cavity wall insulation seem cheap to do so you would hope that homeowners or nice neighbours would do so quickly so houses are warmer, cheaper to heat etc , The other eco upgrades are more expensive and will take longer to pay back. But if it takes 15 years for solar panels to pay back i feel that most people will still be claiming it takes that long in 15 years. I apprieciate for most it would be difficult to find the money. For me when I think of the reasons/ excuses for not doing something, I think of saying these to my future grandchildren, and then my reasons sound so lame ( but i have still not done lots of them yet ! ). Does anyone know about the scheme for morgages that stick with the house and how it works?
