Our Story
This project has the single aim of producing a sustainable source of power for the BMX club’s floodlights. This will ensure maximum use of the facility while keeping the cost down to users.
To do this the club has got involved with Green Streets and created a community made up of club members and local people who are willing to be involved to help achieve this goal. As part of the project, 20 houses will also receive energy assessments.
Plans are still very much in the investigative stage, but the main idea is to install a wind turbine in Peel Park. However due to issues involved with this technology other ideas are being looked at including PV mounted on the Council workshop in the compound used for secure storage.
Ian Thewlis and Jeremy Brown have held the elected positions of Chair and Secretary of the club, and have been involved in many projects but this one is probably the largest profile and certainly the most complicated.
