Our Story

Hyde Farm CAN

Hyde Farm CAN (Climate Action Network) was formed in 2007 and is an expanding group of over 200 residents who live on or near the Hyde Farm estate in Balham, and works together to understand and reduce their carbon footprint.

The group has developed a successful DIY energy-saving workshop, “Draught-busting Saturday”, which evolved from DIY experimentation by a few members on how to insulate sash windows.

Now, through Green Streets, Hyde Farm CAN is aiming to:

• Fully draught-proof and insulate 20 Victorian houses/flats, aiming for 40% energy reduction per household
• Install solar PV on the local school, aiming to reduce energy by 20%
• Develop and provide 12 DIY energy efficiency workshops by expanding the group’s "Draught-busting Saturdays" concept
• Train at least 10 participants in Energy Efficiency C&G 6176
• Advise and train 100 households on how to retrofit energy-saving measures themselves
