I heard this on the radio this morning.

A Danish hotel is creating a world first by giving guests the chance to help power the building whilst getting fit at the same time. The 366-room Crowne Plaza Copenhagen Towers, which claims to be one of the world’s greenest hotels, is taking energy efficiency one step further by installing electricity generating bicycles in its gym for guests to use. Anyone producing 10 watt hours of electricity or more for the hotel will be given a locally produced complimentary meal.

I've always loved the ideas of gyms being wired-up to generate. Fitness freaks could go head to head to generate the most - gyms vs gyms - London vs New York!

Seems like other countries are leading the way in energy efficient accommodation - did you see the blog post from Helen about the energy efficient youth hostel that she stayed in when in Berlin...and that was a couple of years ago!

I've seen people charge their mobile phones from bikes at Glastonbury...I've got a turbo trainer here at home (a way of riding my bike whilst watching TV!) I'd love to be generating electricity at the same time as training for my triathlon!
