Has anybody looked into the cost of installation for a gas supply, to a property in a rural village?
Hi - yes, I looked into doing this when I moved house a few years back - there was no gas connected to the house (although there was a few houses in our area that had gas, ours did not)
I got a quote and it was extremely high - £7,000 - and that was just to get the line to the boundary of our garden - the rest was up to us. We did not pursue and ended up having our old fave cooker converted to calor. We updated the old boiler to a new oil combination (removed the old hot water storage tank)
The oil is hard to impossible to monitor - the biggest downside is that we've run out of oil a few times when it's been really cold... to date, we've never run out of cooker gas yet (or at least mid Christmas cooking!)
